OCD ( Obsessive Compulsive Disorder )
OCD stands for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. It is a mental health disorder that is characterised by recurring, unwanted, and intrusive thoughts, images, or impulses (obsessions) and repetitive behaviours or mental acts that an individual feels compelled to perform (compulsions). People with OCD may find themselves engaging in compulsive behaviours such as hand washing, checking, or counting, in an effort to alleviate the anxiety and distress caused by their obsessions.
OCD is a serious mental health condition that can significantly impact a person’s daily life, relationships, and overall well-being. It is different from OCPD where cleanliness and symmetry give joy and comfort to an individual.

FAQs
The exact causes of OCD are unknown, but it is believed to be the result of a combination of genetic, biological, and environmental factors. Some research has suggested that abnormal levels of neurotransmitters such as serotonin may play a role in the development of OCD.
While there is no cure for OCD, many people with the disorder are able to manage their symptoms and lead productive lives through treatment and ongoing self-care. It is important to seek treatment as early as possible to reduce the impact of OCD on daily functioning.
